This brightly colored amphibian has simply been named the Chiriquí fireplace salamander (Bolitoglossa cathyledecae), a new-to-science species.

It was discovered throughout an expedition to La Amistad Worldwide Park in Panama by a Panamanian crew that has been investigating the Cordillera de Talamanca. This mountain vary runs between the western a part of the nation and Costa Rica, and is among the least-explored areas of Central America. Abel Batista at Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí in Panama and his colleagues decided that it’s new to science.

Whereas it may be tough to inform some new species other than their shut kin, this salamander differs from different members of its genus in its colors, the webbing of its fingers and ft, and in its excessive variety of higher tooth. Genetic evaluation confirmed that the animal is distinct from different recognized salamanders.
